11 Contemplations (2014)
11 Contemplations is a site-specific installation on the roof of my apartment building in Philadelphia, PA. Using chalk, I outlined the positionality of my body during separate moments of suicidal ideation. The accompanied items, which range from piles of pills, a framed photograph of my mother, an empty photo album, a letter from a former lover, a mirror, to assorted comfort foods, add context to the weight of the thoughts that had occurred in these individual states of crisis.
* The minimal documentation is the result of a resident discovering the installation and calling the management office out of concern, which then prompted a phone call from my father (ha!) The work was cleaned up before invited audience members could see it.
