Constructing the Eyescape (2019)

6 min. silent film

somewhere in my mind’s eye, made at home. a door slowly opens to a dark, dimly lit bathroom. the camera is positioned under water in the bathtub, facing up as the artist approaches from above. colors pulsate. she fusses with the camera, repositioning it frequently, obscuring the frame. layers of reflective light, vibrant purples and pinks, saturate, radiate, reverberate. the mirror catches the artist documenting water’s interaction with material. under water again. a foot and hand emerge in the phosphene.
